It's Spring here in Charlottesville. The birds sing. The dogwoods bloom. The green explodes in that "young spring green" that fills your eyes and makes you have to blink, it's so vibrant and alive. I even mowed, further evidence of Spring. I've always said Fall is my favorite season. The earthy hues of rust red, golden yellow, pumpkin orange covering the trees and cascading to the ground. The hot Summer days unnoticeably turning cooler with breezes here and there. And yet, Spring finds me so expectant, itching at possibilities to do and be and change. Spring calls me forth from my slumber of excuses and "but it's dark already" answers to thoughts of after-dinner walks. Excuses seem lame in the Spring, when the whole earth is bursting forth with life. Even our beloved BOB (the stroller, not the neighbor or the handyman) has come to life with days that tempt me to wear skirts and short-sleeved shirts. And tomorrow, the greatest testament of Spring's Life-giving possibilities is ours to celebrate: Christ's resurrection! In the same way that Spring reminds us that Winter's death is not the end, so too does Christ's victory over death renew our Hope that there is, indeed, Life now and ever after.
Acts 2:22-24
"Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know--23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. 24 But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power."

This is the Hope we cling to--Christ, Risen indeed! May His life fill your own with expectancy, renewal, and life eternal! Happy Easter, all.
