Now that Spring Break has brought me a small respite from the daily pressure of grad school, I was able to gift Susan with the ability to attend the regional Vineyard Women's Conference. I was looking forward to spending the day with Ellen, but a bit fearful about keeping to a schedule in a hotel. Not having our usual space or a readily available milk supply presented some strange logistical challenges. How do you keep a baby happy, stuck in a small hotel room??
Turns out that the answer is walking! In between naps, we took two hour-long walks. Ellen got her first ocean and beach experiences, interacted with some seagulls, and considered a career as a bail-bonds woman. All told, it was a good day, despite the chilly weather and decidedly creepy vibe of a desolate and deserted off-season Ocean City, MD. Heck, I'm already looking forward to my next opportunity to spend a day with little Baby Fresh.
